About Me
I'm a proud mother of 2, a teacher, and an artist. I've been creating for 30 years in various capacities. I fell in love with art after my first oil painting class at age 8. I went on to be in advanced art through middle and high school. In college I switched to performance art and earned a BFA in Theatre Arts from The University of Texas at Arlington. There I performed theatre as well studied costume and makeup design. I also completed an MBA at the University of Houston. I have years of experience in marketing, using at professionally to create ads for both print and online. I also have years of experience in event and project management so I am very comfortable running multiple projects at one time, as needed in an art room as well as managing supplies and a budget.
Teaching Philosophy
I love teaching a growth mindset through art. The art room is a perfect space to take risks and learn how to both succeed and fail. I taught my own children and all children that I teach art to that "There are no mistakes in art, only design changes." I like to focus on the 4 C's of education: communication, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. Art is a wonderful way to explore and grow these characteristics. My goal is to create a safe, fun, exciting environment that kids can learn and grow in, and that they cannot wait to come back to.
